Uncertainty Experts
Developed with Netflix and UCL, Uncertainty Experts is an interactive learning documentary scientifically proven to enhance users’ tolerance to uncertainty, increasing resilience, decisiveness, creativity, and empathy. I've been a partner since the start, providing story and creative input, helping to shape the vision and strategy, and offering business advisory as the project moves towards sale.
Created by Sam Conniff (author, Be More Pirate, co-founder, Livity) and co-presented by science communicator extraordinaire, Katherine Templar-Lewis (co-founder, Kinda Studios), Uncertainty Experts is a unique learning journey, blending documentary storytelling (developed with Netflix), counter-cultural teachers (ex-gang leaders, refugees, ex-prisoners…), and self reflection (psychology, neuroscience, CBT, empathy design…) designed by scientists from UCL and beyond. With over 20,000 participants in the largest experiment in uncertainty, most report lasting increases in resilience, decisiveness, creativity, and empathy, and decreases in anxiety. Clients include Apple, Google, Lego, Nike, Netflix, Nestle, and the NHS.
We’ve spun off podcasts, TED talks, a peer-reviewed scientific paper (read here), and Sam & Katherine’s book on the subject, “The Uncertainty Toolkit” is due out later this year, published by Pan MacMillan.
We are currently in the process of selling to a major consultancy.
“We call him ‘Uncle Andy’ because of his wisdom, experience and advice. There’s also no one better at forming a unified meaningful story out of art, insight or ideas. Andy is coherence, with a wicked sense of humour.”
